Jimmy Rage
"As a multidisciplinary artist, my work has focused on fractured narratives and autobiographical tales that cross borders, specifically on the ways in which identity is articulated and narrated. The way we construct each other, insisting on the power of narration (as Bhabha notes, "nations are narrations")

My imagination has always aligned itself with all aspects of the creative process, like an open-ended loop feeding backwards and forwards... rather than creating linear stories with clear endings. What has informed my art, more than anything, is this journey through the 'in-between' worlds, places, locals, boroughs, cities, provinces, countries and continents.

"Where I am, is where I am not, so to speak. Contemporary art practice and migration has found me travelling... crossing borders to new places with new stimuli, creating new identities, finding new ways to articulate and narrate these stories. Donning different persona to explore different aspects of art, both audio and visual.

"This impulse led me to create the alter ego Jimmy Wordsworth Rage, a character who for started out as a musical muse and later - after many musical collaborations, moved further into the realm of art and writing."

- Femi Dawkins
